Safety Standards & Content Moderation
How we keep the platform safe: automated moderation, child protection, and reporting.
Our position
Grove and Grove Telos have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), illegal content, and harmful or policy-violating material. We do not permit content or behavior that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers minors, or that violates our community standards.
Content moderation system
We use a combination of automated checks and human review to enforce our policies and meet app store and legal requirements (including Google Play policies on harmful content and protection of minors).
- Images (photos and profile pictures): Before any image is stored, it is checked by an automated system (Google Cloud Vision API Safe Search) for adult, violent, or sexually suggestive content. Content that violates our policy is blocked and not uploaded. This applies to all image uploads across the web and mobile apps.
- Text (posts, comments, journal entries, circle messages): Text is checked against a blocklist of terms that indicate illegal content, hate speech, severe profanity, threats, self-harm encouragement, or explicit sexual content. Content containing blocked terms is rejected and not published.
- Videos: Video uploads are currently not automatically scanned frame-by-frame; we may add video moderation in the future. If you see policy-violating video content, please report it.
Automated systems are not perfect. We also rely on user reports and may remove content, suspend or terminate accounts, and report to authorities when we identify or receive reports of violations.
Child protection
- We prohibit any content or conduct that constitutes or facilitates child sexual abuse or exploitation.
- We comply with applicable laws regarding the protection of children and the reporting of abuse.
- We may remove content, suspend or terminate accounts, and report to authorities (including NCMEC in the US) when we become aware of or suspect CSAE.
- We do not knowingly allow minors to be exposed to harmful or exploitative content on our platform.
Reporting
If you see content or behavior that violates our standards or involves child safety concerns, please report it to us and, where appropriate, to the relevant authorities.
- Report content in the app: On the feed and on profile pages, every post and goal has a three-dots menu (⋮) in the top-right corner. Tap or click it and choose Report post or Report. You can select a reason (e.g. harassment, spam, illegal content, inappropriate content, hate speech, other) and add optional details. Reports are reviewed by our team and we take action when content or behavior violates our policies.
- Email or Help center: You can also go to Settings → Report a safety concern to open our Help center, or email goodsite.ethos@gmail.com. We take all reports seriously and respond promptly.

- Local law enforcement: You may also report to your local police or child protection agency.
